The 2024 Providence International Live Looping Festival (PVDLoop) returns LIVE November 8-10th after Hybrid and Online Festivals for the past 3 years! We’re also returning to our AS220 LoopFest home. Once again we’ll be presenting our wonderful event of new music, improvisation, multimedia, and film music performed by top caliber local, national and international live looping artists. In this, our 5th year, we are still the premiere and only East Coast Satellite festival of the Y2K International Live Looping Festival Network, founded in Santa Cruz, California.
STAR!
PVDLoop 2024 will be featuring the most variety ever in our first Live Festival since 2019! From new experimental technology multimedia, exquisite guitars and mandolins, to Beatboxing a Cappella Voice and a super surprise of an Alaskan One Man Ukulele Band, our aim this year is to celebrate! As always, we encourage imagination boundless imagination. From beautiful transcendent ethereal guitar or choir sounds, to raging industrial noise, whether it’s “Avant Garde” or Traditional. The PVDLoop as always encourages taking chances. We’re sort of the punks, the pirates of Loop Fests!
Friday and Saturday evenings, November 8th and 9th at 8:00pm we’ll be presenting brilliant live looping performances from 18 musicians from as close as Rhode Island and as far as Norway and Japan.
On Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm we’ll be gathering to talk about music, looping technology, and whatever comes up. It’s free and open to the public. So come down and Touch the Gear, ask questions, learn how to play, or just check out what we’re doing! Our musicians are always happy talk Looping!
And on Sunday at 7:00pm we’ll be taking PVDLoop 2024 to brand new heights! We’re presenting a special night of Multimedia, Silent and Experimental Films with Live Soundtracks. We’ll combine historical Rhode Island based films in cooperation with the Rhode Island Historical Society and new experimental short film premieres.
We’ll also be presenting 2 East Coast Premieres!
The amazing ROTTESØSTRE!-The RAT SISTERS! (Cindy Sawprano & Laurie Amat) will perform a live improvised soundtrack to Berkeley filmmaker Alfonzo Alvarez’s special colorized film edit of
Dziga Vertov’s “Man With a Movie Camera”.
And wrapping up PVDLoop 2024, we present The Winkler-Clay Bowman’s 4 movement
piece, “The History of the Future”, an electronic performance inspired by the work of visionaries Le Corbusier, Buckminster Fuller, Walt Disney and Paolo Solari. “Through visual, textual and electronic music performance, History of the Future explores the work of these enormously influential thinkers whose unique alloy of mysticism and industrialism was rooted in a mechanistic view of man and, consequently, an implicitly technocratic vision of social order.”
