Ladd Observatory will be open to the public on Monday nights, from 8pm to 10pm, beginning September 16th, 2024.
The historic Ladd Observatory opened in 1891 under the direction of Prof. Winslow Upton. A regular program of transit observations and timekeeping was started in 1893. Prof. Charles Smiley, famous for his observations of solar eclipses, became director of Ladd Observatory in 1938. Associate Dean of the College David Targan is the current director.
Observing nights are weather permitting.
210 Doyle Avenue, at the corner of Doyle and Hope. Park on Doyle Ave. as Observatory parking is very limited.
Tickets are for 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, and 9:30 pm. We require tickets, but they are free They will be made available on the Thursday before the public open night. Please check here for updates.
