You know Jon & Sally from their decades-long stint in the ongoing punk/art experiment The Mekons, Jon’s leadership role in the country mayhemists the Waco Brothers, or Sally’s country chanteuse alter-ego Cowboy Sally.
Chris Brokaw, a Boston-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, drummer, and film composer, has carved a remarkable career in music and film. Known for his work with the bands Codeine (as drummer) and Come (as guitarist) in the ’90s, his albums with Sub Pop and Matador are landmarks of American indie rock. Since 2001, Chris has focused on his solo work, producing a diverse array of vocal and instrumental music—from rock albums like Puritan to acoustic explorations like Canaris, and even classical guitar renditions of Bowie and Prince. His film scores have earned acclaim, notably winning Best Original Score at the Brooklyn International Film Festival. Chris remains active in music performance and teaching, and continues to collaborate across various creative mediums. Currently, he tours with the Chris Brokaw Rock Band and several other projects, while Fire Records is reissuing the catalog of Come starting with Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
