Opening reception at the Great Friends Meeting House
Scandalous Conduct: A Fairy Extravaganza is a multi-screen documentary musical video installation by Jason Tranchida & Matthew Lawrence. The project is about the 1919 Newport Sex Scandal, in which undercover Navy operatives seduced a group of queer characters known as the Ladies of Newport. The project uses abstract video, archival narratives, and musical recreations to tell a story of surveillance and homophobia just after the end of World War I.
