Rick Altergott is a cartoonist/ illustrator/ painter best known as the creator of the fictional character Doofus who lives in “Flowertown, U.S.A.” with his best friend “Henry Hotchkiss”. His highly anticipated Graphic Novel, “Blessed Be” will be available in May, 2024, published by Fantagraphics Books, and is available to order on their website..
As a gallery artist, he has created images fully from the imagination, or inspired by direct observation, these being mostly semi-urban landscapes. Plans are to continue this two tiered approach and see where it leads, creatively.
He is learning to paint in Oil on canvas, and continues to work in Watercolor, and pen and ink, and is enjoying making homemade screen printed images using halftones created in Photoshop.
YOUTH ARTIST OPENING: Nolan Hubbard
“Hi there, my name is Nolan Hubbard, I’m 13 years old, and I live in Warren, Rhode Island. I’ve been homeschooled since the fourth grade, which has given me a lot of time to work on my art. I’ve been drawing pretty much my whole life, but I also enjoy playing saxophone, reading manga, and making movies with my friends. All but the oil painting are based on original ideas I have made up, for instance Smiley, and the gigantic, one-eyed creature, Rain Thing. I hope you enjoy my work.”
